Known for their wounded country and barreling noise-rock sound, Twine was formed in Adelaide, Australia, in 2021, initially as a solo outlet for Tom Katsaras’ experiments in brash, country-inflected rock. Their latest EP, Deer in the Headlights, follows the Australian Music Prize-nominated debut New Old Horse (2024), a tender yet eruptive exploration of identity and wayward relationships. Now based in Melbourne, the band has evolved into an entirely new form, further exploring the tender relationship between noise and vulnerability alongside new members Xanthe Rook (Recitals), James Dimick (Craning), and Vindi Ferguson (kisses). Known for their exhilarating live shows, Twine has supported Unwound (USA), The Hard Quartet (USA), and Mclusky (UK), and has played sold-out shows across Australia and New Zealand, with festival appearances at Laneway, Camp A Low Hum, BIGSOUND, and SXSW Sydney.
