DRIFT has long existed as the singular vision of artist Nathalia Bruno, with the arrival of guitarist Max Oscarnold, drummer Finn Kidd, and keyboardist Lucy Lucifer, that solitary language mutates into a volatile wall of sound, reflecting a space where violence and restraint remain in constant negotiation.
Situated within the psychic topography of Kingsland Road, Bruno renders a distinctly London condition, one defined less by spectacle than by a slow, ambient nihilism. Delivered in a Nico-esque baritone, her voice rarely seeks catharsis, instead observing with forensic detachment. There are echoes of The Velvet Underground’s unsentimental urban tableaux and Suicide’s metropolitan psychodramas, yet these references function less as homage than as a shared methodology.
