Pok Pongprayon (Wannarit Pongprayoon) is a Bangkok-based electronic artist and one of the early pioneers of Thailand’s underground electronic and experimental music scene, active since the late 1990s. Known for his instinct-driven approach to sound, Pongprayon has built a reputation for immersive live performances that blur the line between improvisation and composition. Performing solo under his own name, Pok crafts spontaneous, high-energy sets using synthesizers and drum machines, drawing from retro electronics, krautish motorik grooves, post-punk textures, and vintage electro funk. His music is raw, playful, and unpredictable—shaped as much by decades of collaborative experimentation as by a deep-rooted DIY ethos. Beyond his solo work, Pongprayon is the co-founder of the duo Stylish Nonsense and the Bangkok-based label Panda Records, both influential platforms within Southeast Asia’s independent music landscape. He has performed at notable events including documenta fifteen, Kontula Electronic Festival, and Synästhesie Festival. With a performance style that is both refined and irreverent, Pok Pongprayon brings a distinctly Southeast Asian perspective to the global electronic circuit—offering European audiences a compelling mix of analog grit, kraut-informed drive, and improvisational freedom.
