Scratchy, contrasting and labyrinthine, songs from Alix Fernz venture deep into post-punk’s scalene enclave, also flirting with hypnagogic pop, resulting in a lo-fi hybrid between synthwave and alternative rock, topped with catchy yet kooky melodies. Singing about bar life, psychosocial disorders, addiction, and introspection, while drawing inspiration from fashion, transvestism, and weirdos, the Montrealer lays, along masqued syllabic beats, the accounts of a certain coming-of-age in an era wherein likes and memes are all the rage.

J Mahon is the project of Australian artist and musician Jarrod Michael Mahon.

After releasing 20 home-recorded EPs and albums documenting his journey to sobriety, he unveiled his first studio record, Everything Has a Life (2023), produced with Syd Kemp (Ulrika Spacek, Spiritualized). In 2025, Mahon signed with Germany’s Unique Records and reunited with Kemp for his sophomore chamber-pop album, Begin Again, Again, heavily influenced by Sparklehorse, Spiritualized, and Daniel Johnston.

In late 2025 he formed a new live trio, J MAHON and The Heavenly Pop Hits. This is the first time performing with a live band since early 2023. Reimagining his songs with a 90s slacker/power pop edge reminiscent of The Replacements, Galaxie 500 and Big Star.
